If this sounds like your knee
Walking up and down the stairs are hard for you
Months after surgery, your knee still won’t bend or straighten all the way.
Your runs keep getting shorter because the pain starts early.
You avoid kneeling or sitting on the floor because it hurts.
The pain eases when you rest, then comes back when you get active again.
Tried different treatments but they didn’t work.

Why your knee pain keeps coming back
Your hip and ankle share the work with your knee every time you take a step. If your hip muscles are weak or your ankle is stiff, your knee takes on extra load.
Your leg works like a chain. When one link is weak, the links next to it do more of the work, so you feel pain in the knee even when the problem starts somewhere else.
Rest calms the pain for a while, but it does not change how your leg moves. The pain returns when you go back to stairs or running.
So your physiotherapist checks your hip and ankle as well as your knee before treatment starts.

What happens in your knee physiotherapy treatment session
Each session is 45 to 60 minutes and strictly one-to-one. Your first visit follows these four steps.

Assessment
You tell us about your pain and what makes it worse. Then we watch you walk and squat, and we test the strength and movement of your leg.

Hands-on treatment
Your physiotherapist uses hands-on treatment to ease the pain in the area. Which method suits you is decided after your assessment.

Exercise therapy
You start exercises in the same session to make the muscles around your knee stronger. Your physiotherapist watches your form and corrects it.

Your plan
Before you leave, we explain what we found and agree the next sessions with you. You also leave knowing what to do at home between visits.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Bryan at Oni Fitness is a True legend. I’ve been struggling with pain in my knee for months and seen so many physios, but none of them could fix it... After months of suffering, my pain was gone after seeing him. He is professional, highly skilled, and truly cares about his clients. If you want a solution instead of just a treatment, Bryan is your man!

This was my first experience with physical therapy. I had a torn ligament in my knee, so I came here for an inquiry and diagnosis. The physical therapist who assisted me in the diagnosis was Bryan. He was very professional and quickly identified the source of my knee pain. Through acupuncture, my knees no longer hurt. He explained clearly what had happened to my knee and advised me on what I should and shouldn't do. I sincerely appreciate Bryan's expertise and the effective treatment. Thank you!
I went to Malcolm after recommended by a friend. Malcolm is very knowledgeable and detailed in terms of diagnosis on the discomfort felt near my knee. He did some muscles relief massage and stretching alongside with few legs exercises he recommended for me to do on my own to speed up my recovery from ITB syndrome. After two weeks, now I am back to playing sports again. In summary, professional, great ambience & reasonable price.

Common questions about knee physiotherapy
How many knee physiotherapy sessions will I need?
It depends on what is causing your knee pain and how long you’ve had it. Your physiotherapist will suggest a plan after your first assessment, and review it with you as you go.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. You can book with us directly, and your physiotherapist will assess your knee on your first visit.
Can physiotherapy help knee osteoarthritis?
Yes. Exercise is one of the main treatments for knee osteoarthritis. Your physiotherapist will build a plan to strengthen the muscles around your knee, at a pace your knee can manage.
Can I claim physiotherapy on insurance?
It depends on your insurer. With Great Eastern, we help with a direct claim, subject to eligibility. With other insurers, you pay first and we give you a physiotherapy report and receipt so you can claim. We don’t accept Guarantee Letters.
Does knee treatment hurt?
Mostly, no. Hands-on treatment is there to ease your pain. Some exercises may feel like hard work for a sore knee, but your physiotherapist keeps them at a level you can manage.
Should I stop running while my knee hurts?
Not always. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will tell you whether you can keep running for now, and how to build back up.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear loose clothes you can move in, such as a T-shirt and shorts. Bring any X-ray, MRI or ultrasound reports you have. If you don’t have any, that’s fine.
What language does your team speak?
Our team speaks English, Malay and Mandarin, and some of us also speak Hokkien, Hakka and Cantonese. If you’d prefer a language other than English, mention it in your WhatsApp message when you book.
