When your ankle or heel let you down
Your first steps out of bed hurt your heel.
Your ankle rolls on an uneven path.
You hold back on jumps and quick turns.
The back of your heel aches after a run.
Your ankle swells after a long day on your feet.
Months after a sprain, your ankle still feels weak.

Why sprains and heel pain keep coming back
Pain usually settles before your ankle is fully ready. After a sprain, the ligaments heal, but the calf strength and balance you lost don’t come back on their own.
It’s like unplugging your phone at 40% charge. It works for a normal day, then runs out halfway through a long walk or a match.
Heel and Achilles pain work the same way. Rest calms the pain, but your calf still isn’t ready for the stairs, runs and long days you go back to.
So we test your balance and calf strength, and keep training them after the pain settles.

What happens in your ankle and foot physiotherapy treatment session
Each session is 45 to 60 minutes and strictly one-to-one. Your first visit follows these four steps.

Assessment
Tell us how it started: a twist on the court, or heel pain that built up over weeks. We check your ankle and foot, watch you walk and stand on one leg, and test your calf strength.

Hands-on treatment
Hands-on treatment eases the pain and loosens a stiff ankle or tight calf, so walking feels more normal. How we do it depends on your ankle.

Exercise therapy
You start balance and calf exercises in the same session. As your ankle gets stronger, we add hopping and landing, or running drills if you play sport.

Your plan
Before you leave, you get exercises for home and clear steps back to your sport, or to a full day on your feet.
What our ankle and foot patients say...
Met with June today for an ankle sprain. She did a thorough assessment and really helped manage and understand my concern. She recommended some exercises I'm certain will help.
Sprained my ankle and went for physiotherapy with June, it genuinely helped my recovery so much and I could see progress after every session 🥰 10/10 would recommend here
Came for my 1-2 year old ankle sprain that continued to cause me pain when walking more than 10minutes, and limited my skating practice. Have been seeing Eva for a month and thanks to her mobility and strength focus, I’ve been able to do more in the last 2-3 weeks than the last 1-2 years. Can even jog and skate long enough to challenge my endurance and strength without worrying about causing further injury! Thanks for your amazing work, and letting me enjoy my sports again! 🙂
I came to see Joshua for an ankle injury I got from running, and I’m really glad I did. He was professional and thorough in identifying the problem right from the start. He was able to figure out what was wrong and treated the inflammation really well. He’s very skilled and professional, yet also friendly and easy to talk to. I appreciate how patient he is when listening to my concerns and how he guided me through the exercises I needed to do.What I like most is that he checks in and follows up from time to time, which shows he genuinely cares about his patients. Highly recommend Joshua if you need a physiotherapist! 5 star!
Bryan assessed my son's ankle and his pain went from 5/10 to 2/10 (10 being painful) in the 1st session. He did a great job running through a few specific ankle strengthening exercises.
My first time come to fisio for my ankle, the fisio well acknowledge the injure condition, and explained it to me. Thank you.
Bryan is a great physiotherapist. He skillfully addressed my ankle pain with targeted massage and provided effective exercises for recovery. I'm really grateful for his expertise and care.
Found this place via Google to help with a persistent pain in my ankle. My trainer Malcolm provided really helpful exercises to help with the gradual recovery and several session of therapy to help with pain management. Appreciate the attention to detail I received and summary of each session.Plus points for the gym and on-site changing rooms and lockers.
Before I started at ONI, I had severe ankle pain when walking on inclines or at speed for more than 20 minutes. After several sessions strengthening my calves and legs, I no longer suffer from this debilitating pain and have regained my freedom of movement...

Ankle and foot problems we treat
We treat a range of ankle and foot conditions, whether it’s an acute injury, long-term pain or recovery after surgery.
Ankle sprain
You rolled your ankle and stretched the ligaments on the outside. We settle the swelling, then retrain the balance and strength you lost.
Weak or unstable ankle (chronic ankle instability)
Your ankle gives way again and again, long after the first sprain. We build the balance and strength that hold it steady.
Heel pain (plantar fasciitis)
Sharp pain under the heel, worst with your first steps in the morning. We ease the pain and strengthen your calf and the arch of your foot.
Achilles tendon pain (Achilles tendinopathy)
Pain and stiffness in the cord above your heel, common in runners. We load the tendon step by step so it can take more.
Outer ankle tendon pain (peroneal tendinopathy)
Pain along the outside of the ankle, often on uneven ground. We calm the tendon and strengthen the muscles on the outside of your leg.
Inner ankle pain (posterior tibialis tendinopathy)
The inside of your ankle aches after standing. We strengthen the tendon and muscles that hold up your arch.
Stiff ankle after a fracture or a cast
Once the bone has healed, the ankle can be stiff and weak. We get it moving and build your strength back.

Common questions about ankle and foot physiotherapy
How long does heel or ankle pain take to settle?
It varies a lot. A mild sprain from last week is different from heel pain you’ve had for a year. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will tell you what to expect and how often to come.
How soon after a sprain should I start physiotherapy?
You can message us from the first day. For most sprains, gentle movement and some weight on the foot help more than full rest, but your physiotherapist first checks what is safe for your ankle.
If the swelling is severe, kindly visit a doctor first.
Do I need a doctor's referral or a scan first?
No. You can book with us directly, and your physiotherapist will assess your ankle and foot on your first visit. Bring any X-ray or MRI reports you already have. If your physiotherapist thinks a scan would help, they will tell you to see a doctor, who can arrange one.
Can I claim physiotherapy on insurance?
It depends on your insurer. With Great Eastern, we help with a direct claim, subject to eligibility. With other insurers, you pay first and we give you a physiotherapy report and receipt so you can claim. We don’t accept Guarantee Letters.
Can I keep running while my ankle or heel hurts?
Sometimes, with changes. If the pain makes you limp or gets worse as you run, stop for now. Your physiotherapist sets how far and how often you can run while your ankle recovers.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear loose clothes you can move in, such as a T-shirt and shorts. Bring any X-ray, MRI or ultrasound reports you have. If you don’t have any, that’s fine.
What language does your team speak?
Our team speaks English, Malay and Mandarin, and some of us also speak Hokkien, Hakka and Cantonese. If you’d prefer a language other than English, mention it in your WhatsApp message when you book.
